Abstract

Yes, IT involves computers, software, and services, but good IT synthesizes these elements with a concentration on how your organization can best meet its goals. Increasingly, the IT department is the hub of any company-and companies expect IT managers to accomplish a variety of tasks with limited resources. IT management requires a broader mix of skills and expertise than any other business career. To be successful, the IT leader has to understand evolving technologies, master advanced business concepts, sell IT investments to senior management, manage complex projects, and motivate a staff of highly intelligent, but often challenging individuals.

After a brief introduction on the challenges of today's CIO/IT Manager, the following topics will be discussed:

  • IT Infrastructure as a corporate asset
  • Information systems, the core business of your IT department
  • Human Resources, to outsource or not to outsource, that's the question
  • Financial Resources, the lifeblood of your IT organisation
  • About business and IT processes
  • Projects: improving efficiency and effectiveness and innovation
  • Organisation or finding the right balance between centralisation and decentralisation
  • About Strategy and Business Alignment

You will get this information first hand, from an experienced veteran Jan De Sutter who will give you “survival tips” that have proven to work, not only on paper but in his own environment. The seminar is based on his bestselling book “The Power of IT – Survival Guide for the CIO”
